Im planning a ride for charity in September and want to be able to e-mail route maps to others taking part, I have a Nav iv and plan routes on Basecamp. Can the routes i plan on Basecamp be used/altered/fiddled with, to work on TomTom equipment? Please use small words as i'm a complete nobber with computers!:blast

TYRE does advertise itself as 'not a converter' but it can do it.

I prefer ITN Converter, good for route planning but also a great little tool for transposing your Garmin Mapsource created routes to TomTom ITN format.

Best to save your route from Mapsource as a GPX file. Use 'Save As' in the file menu and select GPX from the drop down at the bottom of the 'Save As' dialogue box that pops up.

Open in ITN Converter and then just select the desired export format. Easy peasy :D

Can also export to Google Maps which is handy for posting your routes on forums so that those without any sat nav can also see where you're going.

Do be aware that you will be better off erring on the side of caution, adding more shaping nodes to your Mapsource routes that might be necessary for your own use, when sharing routes with others. The routing algorithms on a TomTom, or even another Garmin that's set up differently to yours, could mean the calculated route differs from what you intend.
