I currently have a Garmin street pilot 111 on my 1200gs, I cant realy fault it but it has been superseeded a couple of times. I have the touratech lockable mount but am using mapsource v7. now for the extra £s to upgrade to v8 where i will still have a good reliable (if a little slow to recalculate) tough unit I could be upgrading to a 2610 which is faster and uses CF flash memory card which are available upto 4gb in size and has full post code search ect. I also use it in my job as a lorry driver.

Do I upgrade as it means new bracket too which dont come cheap either.Bob

Get the 2610.

And if you want the longer answer .............

You'll probably need an extra memory card on the SPIII to handle the larger (memory hungry) map sections on CN8, so it'll be worthwhile going the 2610 route

AFAIK the 2610 can't do a full post code search :(

Still worth the extra over a SP3, especially if you need to buy the V8 disk. If you do buy one I'd leave it till the new year as Garmin seem to normally offer a free mapping upgrade with the unit if you didn't get it when you bought it IYSWIM.

IMHO a SP3 is great for motorways, the 2610 is much better for small roads all beacuse of it taking a second or two to recalculate, rather than the five or ten minutes the SP3 takes when you go off route.

Thanks for the replies folks, I think I already new I wanted to upgrade so I am now on the lookout for a 2610. Are they still available new? and if so whats a good price?

Thanks

Bob
