£23 get's you one of these..............

From GPS Warehouse, here

Looks big in the pic, but mines positioned so it's just above the middle of the crossbar on my Dakar. The u-bolt is attached just below where the crossbrace joins the main bar.

You can also have it positioned where you want, and it doesn't move at all.

Or you can lash out 3 times that amout for the Touratech jobbie......
