Hmm Be interesting to kow what it said when he was doing the shimming at 6:30 ish??

Didn;t see any measuring going on ????
 
I enjoyed the gearbox one, there was a useful reminder there to put the end-cover gasket in place under the measuring plate before measuring the shims.

I'll be doing this job as soon as my hand gets better, so:
Where can I borrow/buy/hire a shimming/measuring plate, please?​

Oh, and in the engine rebuild vid, with that much wear on the valve guides- although it didn't mention the wear on the valve stems- wouldn't it be good to change the valves as well as they have a limited life- 60,000 miles/100,000kms? Or is it the case that they have been known to fail at that mileage? Mine have done 65,000mls so I'll probably change mine.

I've said it before but I reckon it would be great if one of our own experts could put together a few like these on dvd with thier own verbal explanation of whats going on as they go through a gearbox or engine rebuild. I reckon theys sell like hot cakes on here.
