Hi guys,

I have a 2001 GS 1150, 28K on the clock and it had a full clutch and seals done at 26K. there seems to be a lot of play at the back wheel, not sideways, but when in first gear you can turn the wheel by around 15degrees between it clonking at the gearbox, ie engaging!! both forward and backwards.

Is this normal or is something a bit worn??

There is a reasonable amount of noise (clunk) when pulling away, but not ABS i am aware of that one, it comes from the shaft/gearbox end? At a standstill you can generate quite a clunk when engaging and disengaging the clutch but not moving away, if you catch my drift (poping the clutch).

Cheers,

Gordon.

Relax, its fine unless mine is gubbed too . When its in gear there is a wee bit of movement before it goes clunk (thats the technical term for engaged)

I think you'll find that most "clunks" are inversely proportional to your post count ;)

Stick around here and it will soon be an issue of the past :thumb2

I get the feeling they are a little bit more agricultural than i had anticipated:augie

But am still delighted with it, it will just take a bit of getting used too. this is my first season with one, and i hope it will be the start of something gr8.

Cheers,

G:flag

Yep - you soon learn to love the BMW 'character' :) When you add up the lash in all the various gears and splines in the drive it amounts to a surprising amount of play.

Earplugs

I have tryed the earplug route, but it scared the sh#t out of me coz i could hear all sorts of other noises that i didnt before due to the wind blast.

i think i will just try and relax and enjoy:D

THE quote of the week/month/year:D Made by Germans and ridden over several invasions. GS's will continue to suprise you by their mix of originality and oddity. I thinks that's why we like 'em so:thumb
