I might have a winter project coming my way:D How difficult is it to strip down and rebuild the gearbox on an R1100 rs??

Any special tools needed?
Any likely snags?

PS I searched site on gearbox, but didn't find anything.:beerjug:

Many thanks BJ. I did see that but it don't say anything about the practicalities of the strip/assembly. I've done a strip down of a car's box and it was a right pig to get some of the shafts out. Just wondered how difficult is the Beamer's box:)

Hmm Well If I get mine done first I'll send ya the photos

It's a pity BM didn't stand over these boxes I reckon the RS boxes get th emost damage followed at a reasonble distance by the GS and the Old R and RT were less Shall we say "abused" than RS and GS boxes!!!

Here's a link to an airhead box rebuild I thin they're similar but not identical I'll know better after I disect mine:aidan:aidan:aidan

Lot easyer than a car box,but YOU MUST heat the gearbox up with a heat gun etc to seperate & pull the clusters out & put back in. Also heat the bearings to remove refit to shafts
Apart from that its easy

What about swapping my adv 6th gear for the overdrive 6th off my 1150GS/RT ?
