The nice people I work for are thinking of equipping us motorcycle types with Genesis headsets to replace our current in helmet comms when we switch over to the digital comms system.

Probably be the Genesis 2 with moulded plugs.

Anyone here had any experience of these/use them? What are they like to wear for extended periods of time (our shifts are 12 hours)? Do they work? How often do they go wrong? Should we be scared?

Any opinions gratefully recieved.

I've seen a couple of London Transport Police Motorcyclists wearing these, and they don't seem to have a problem. you just got to make sure they fit inside your helmet comfortably. Difference was they could take their helmets off and still talk on the comms.

The Met have been using them for a couple of years. There are no real issues. Some people have found them a bit tight and returned them to the suppliers to have some material removed. As a reliabilty issue the only fault I suffered is when the mouth peice bent double. But that was probably user error when I removed the comms.

Genesis 2

We have genesis 2 head sets for use with our off-road helmets. They are not as comfortable as helmet fitted comms and there is a technique to taking your helmet off without ripping off your ears. Not the best for wearing for lengthy periods. They serve their purpose but comfort is an issue.
