Gerbing heated trouser liner

Hi all

Santa brought me one of these - since upgrading from goretex to leather my legs now get cold...

However I'm puzzled. I understood these things are supposed to go under leathers, but there's a massive zip up the legs, they're dead baggy, there are warnings about the heater elements burning your legs if they're directly against skin, and they're windproof, all of which suggests this is not the case.

So should they go over leathers instead? Seems a bit odd as the heating would have to be a lot higher to keep me warm through leathers compared with if they were under them, and if they're outside my boots then I probably won't be able to connect them to the heated socks I also got. Maybe it's an obvious conclusion but does anyone else have them, and do you wear them inside or outside?

Dave.

My guess is that they are intended to cover thermals or similar, and under textile trousers rather than leathers.

I've got gerbing heated trousers and they are a bit baggy. I've never worked out what the big zips are for though.

No doubt about it that they should go inside whatever trousers you are wearing so if your leathers are tight they are not going to work with your gerbings.

I would advise you to wear a thin thermal/wicking layer against your skin rather than having the gerbings against your skin. The heat is quite uneven and can get pretty close to burning you without an additional layer.

I would treat yourself to the controller as the gerbing gear can get too hot particularly if you get stuck in traffic or are riding in town. The "aroma" can be a bit special without a heat controller.

I think the liners would work best with cordura/fabric trousers that were waterproof rather than looser leathers. I use Rukka.

Any further assistance PM me.
