Done the valves. changed the oil and filter. changed gearbox and final drive oil. fitted new plugs. Connected new twinmax.
Previously made a balancer with tubing and oil, but was never happy with it. If the balance is out by any significant amount, it just sucked the oil out one side.
Using the Twinmax, with its sensitivity switch, you can fine tune it all through the range to an amazing accuracy.
Tried to get it to tickover like a harley, but failed.
When I had the injector to bits recently to see if I could stop it rattling, I put the throttle stop screw out of adjustment. Seemingly this is something you must not alter, or the world stops revolving ... or something like that, but with the twinmax I was able to get it set again.
A good wee tool.

Its amazing how much difference it makes with a decent servicing. I thought it was running perfectly.

Think I will do myself now.
What do we have here ...... blood pressure tester, thermometer, anal probe, cholesteral tester kit, vibrator ? ........... Louise, whats a vibrator doing in the medicine cupboard ......

and you're wondering about a vibrator in the cupboard

I must admit i toyed with the idea of buying the twinmax ,but stayed with the manometer, it never needs calibrating. ( and i am a tight git)

I to made the same almost fatal mistake of touching the adjuster screw on the butterfly of the throttle body.
the only logical way that i thought to 'recover' this act of stupidity was to remove both air bleed ( brass ) screws clean and lightly greese and turn completely in to their stops , thus closing the air bleed completely.
With the balancing equipment of your choice connected start the engine
( it will run like a bag af shyte) adjust the throttle cable at the twist grip to give the lowest engine speed that the engine will run , then adjust the butterfly screw that you have adjusted until its in balance with the other hand that you havent adjusted.... with me so far .

Slacken off the throttle cable and make your adjustments normally with air bleed screws to get correct idle speed .........

So not unless i have missed something ( i normally do ) not sure how the twinmax go you out of the poo if you didnt do the above first

Your butterflys should not be influenced by the cables on tickover. There should be some slack.

On mine ,the brass adjuster on the right side could be fully screwed in and the engine ran perfectly. Therefore the butterfly was open too much.
I just screwed the throttle adjuster out until I could get the brass adjuster to have some influence.
Then adjusted it until both brass adjusters were requiring roughly the same amount of turns out to achieve a balance on the twinmax.

I dont know if that makes any sense, but it worked and bike has never run better.

The only things that made any sense to me were the anal probe and vibrator other than that I didn't have a f**king clue :nenau

Which brings us to the question.. where's the best place to get a Twinmax?

All this talk of nipples, screws, and vibrators is confusing me!!!

Has anybody written a "KISS" guide to balancing???

I would like to do mine in the near future and im considering buying some equiptment I can use on the GS and R6 (to ensure the best value allowing me a excuse to convince the Mrs!) but have little clue what the difference between them is.

Im guessing from a earlier post that some unit never need calibrating and some do, and that this is reflected in the cost of the units....?
