Getting at the brake light wiring spade?

Hi Folks

I'm fitting LED Indicators with the brake LED strip in them [NN's].
I need to acces the spade connector for the brake light to put a piggy back one in. Well I've removed the taillight cover.....but can't see how to get to the cables behind the holder, as the unit seems to be one piece? Can anybody advise me please?

Can't be sure without looking but seem to think I had the whole unit out...

Are there bolts under the rear mud-guard?
