Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked (as i'm sure it has) but i cant find it anywhere.

Simply put, i'm sure that organising to have yer 120)GS serviced at an appropriate BMW dealers while touring a little bit around Germany ain't no big issue is it ... other than predicting where you'll be and when?

Anyone ever done it? No tales of woe? Was it horribly expensive?

It'll be the 6600 mile jobby that's needed (though there isn't much of the oil that's still in it from the 600 mile service) but my little tour is gonna make me seriously overdue by the time i get back. Them germans know a bit about my bike i presume.

Thx in advance

that will be the 6000 service then you dont add the 600 onto the total milage

Hmmm, double strange. The guy from Benham (Wolves) wrote 6602 down for its next due service and pointed out it was +6000 from the service he's just that minute completed.

Reason #34 not to go back to them then and its now needed sooner. Bugger.

Mine has got 5600 miles on. It will go in for its 6k service at 6,600 miles...as per what the dealer told me and wrote down in the book. It is the 6k service so is done 6k miles after its last service....isn't it ?

Yup - had i not questioned him when he wrote it i might be dubious, but dats what da man said.

Back to 33 reasons

no sorry, first service at 600 next svc at 6000 miles or one year anniversary, its in the manual honest

Not in mine sir.

I'll split the difference @ 6300,but i'll be in Germany .. sooooooo ....has anyone ever had it done there

Yes I've done it. Klaus Meyer at Mannheim. Best service I ever had and cheap compared to UK prices. That was four years ago.

Jeez..... 6000 miles, or 6600 miles......I promise you, the 'bike won't give a monkeys....:thumb

true very true, but the services are due every 6000 damit:D

Totally irrelevant I know, but I've got a feeling the difference is because the service interval was set in German KM and then translated into UK Miles........rather than round it UP to the nearest 1000, they of course rounded it DOWN (to get more services paid for per bike:blast)

We've had a bike serviced on a tour before now in Germany and it was remarkably boring.......booked in, turned up, service done, paid for, rode away.....what can you say :nenau

Oh, apart from I bet it's easier and nicer fro a Brit to get a service in Germany than a German getting along in GB.....the Germans mostly speak English and they do seem to have a better service attitude :augie

The last 2 jollies have been 3.5k so I guess about 8000 or so. Bit late to delay it, (according to the book of course).

I wouldn't worry about it and I certainly wouldn't waste a day of my hols sitting in the waiting room of a dealer.

If you are bothered, get it done before you go and if you don't like the main dealers, try ABW in Manchester and let Johno fettle it properly. Much cheaper, the job's done right and no, it won't affect your warranty.:thumb

Aha, thank you Sarje. I'll look into that with timing and what not. I also feel the need for some brighter lights from Les W (??) who, from readi g previous posts is up thattaway somewhere.

Part of my trip will include a drunken stupor in or on the floor of Munich's Oktoberfest so waiting for the men in white overall aint such a worry. Such is the life of the lonesome traveller.

Thanks again for your suggestions - much appreciated
