Getting some miles on, but more daft questions

Hi

Finally started to get a few miles on board and I have a few questions.

Oil level: It only ever shows __. __ engine on or off standing still or moving. what am I doing wrong?

Tyre pressure sensors: they seem to move around by about.2 from day to day?

Vibration: If I accelerate from 2k up I get very noticeable vibration as we go trough 2.5K, engine only really starts to feel comfortable after 3K. Is this normal and I need to user lower gears all the time, or will it go after the mill loosens up a bit?

Who makes the best fogs to work with the CanBus.. or should I have had the BMW ones fitted.

Sorry for all of the daft questions but this is the first boxer I have had, and surprisingly I a finding it very different from the Guzzi 1200.

If I remember rightly for the oil reading to work it must be up to normal operating temp and you must be stationary. I can't remember whether the stand needs to be retracted or not.
Between 2-3k revs they will shake your fillings loose and is normal, the DOHC engines are smoother than SOHC so imagine what they're like I was taught to keep the bike "singing" so very rarely go below 3k unless cruising. I do think they smooth out a touch as the miles go up.
I think you'll be fine with spots from any of the big companies eg BMW, Wunderluch and Touratech, but there's a lot of folk on here that know a lot more about this than I do.
Tyre pressures can vary do to ambient temp, but also tyre temp so you need to bear this in mind. If I've ridden spiritedly and the tyres are warm they read higher than when I first set off.

I will have to keep the revs up Ans just use a lower gear then.
Will play around with the oils sensor and if its still the same get it checked out on the 1st service.

Bike at operating temp
Bike idling for at least 10 secs
Side stand retracted
Bike upright.

I can't remember, I googled it. I only found the 2010 one a couple of weeks ago, up til then all I could only find 2009 and earlier on PDF.
If you want to send me your email via PM I'll email you the PDF (assuming the file's not too big to send), and if you don't know how I'll explain how to put Pdf's onto your iphone/iPad. You need the iBook app, which is free and is excellent for reading PDFs

Instructions / info for the automatic oil depth display are carried in the owner's manual. And / or check the oil level using the sight screen, again instructions on how to do this are included in the owner's manual.

Tyres heat up when driven or even sitting in the sun. The atoms and other itsybits that make up air get excited (hot) and whiz about, which increases pressure. Similarly, the pressure falls as the itsybitsy bits cool. You never knew this as your Guzzi did not allow you to check pressure on the move, though you would have discovered had you checked the pressure at the start of a journey and at the end. Do not worry once you have set a pressure that suits you. If in doubt, follow tyre maker's recommendations as to correct pressures to be used.

Vibration. Whilst it is tempting to suggest that BuMW has created a mass market motorcycle that can only be ridden at certain rev's in only certain gears, it is possibly not something that even you might believe. Get used to vibrations. Others complain of buffeting, uncomfortable seats, legs too short, badly positioned bars, dreadful lights, shonky gear changes and too long throttle actions. Just be happy that vibrations are your only concern.

Electricity is electricity, lights are lights. You will need a relay to work the fogs, just as you would on your Guzzi. See sticky for details and umpteen threads on type of lights to be fitted.
