Getting the F650 Dakar Serviced in NE

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie to GSer. I've got a F650GS Dakar with a taste for long European/North African road trips and a bit of green laning. Just recently moved to Newcastle with work. Still trying to learn Geordie. :)

I need to get my bike serviced. Not being from this neck of the woods I trundled round until I found a dealer in Boldon but the guy who works in the bike service dept. is off for a month and they've got 2 'car salesmen' looking after the bikes. Neither seemed to know much about my model and proceeded to quote me £130 more than Rainbow in Rotherham for the same service.

So I was wondering if there was an independant in the Tyne and Wear area who could do it for a reasonable price.

Does UKGSer in the NE have a regular meet and rideout/trips etc.

look through the pages in the north east section there is a mr kendrick in sunderland area that does independant servicing someone here must have his details

Just had my gsa to Mike Kendrick very impressed, less than half price of dealers. With a ex BMW background. tel 07828281003.
 
Mick was the Senior BMW Tech at the Mill and is an all round good bloke.....although I hope you have a bit of discretion and don't tell him I said that. :augie

Thanks for the steer about servicing. I'll give Mark a ring and organise a service for the mistress. I'll be sure to tell him that he's a fat hippy cnut with no dress sense. I guess that's the code word for an extra 10% discount! :blagblah This forum is amazing.

I'm sure the details of the meets are on the forum if anyone could send me the link it would be appreciated. I think I'm off that day so will trundle down.

March sounds good to me for the start of rideout season. My bike( and me ) has been off the road (long story) and could do with a blast out.

Is there much in the way of green laning in County Durham/Northumberland?

Hello Skysurferboy, had a Dakar myself for bout 8 months now, never had it properly mucky yet, only time ive dropped it was when going for my MOT on the forecourt of the garage:blast, be good to have a run out before long while the colds buggared off.
