So I got me a a new screen and a pair of these winglets courtesy of this here forum, thank you to the seller.

I have put the airflow on and tbh, I'm just not sure about it. Ok, riding I can feel the benefit, I haven't had a proper chance to play with it as given the current weather it's windy from every direction so any real benefit isn't being felt (I think??).
Also, it gives the bike a different look, IMHO. The standard screen looked good, the airflow makes it look like a completely different beast all together.
I can help but think it makes outlook a little 'soft' for want of a better word.....
What do you guys think??
Were planning on a fortnight in France in a couple of months so I'm thinking I may just use it for touring and change back when I'm home and just riding locally...

Now the winglets.... I'm not sure about these at all.
Firstly I need to drill holes, which I'm reluctant to do, and with these it will only look 'softer' right????

Do the winglets do such a. Fantastic job that they really are needed? Should I just put those on for touring and remove when at basecamp???

Any opinions are welcomed.

Cheers

Givi Airflow 330 and Winglets

I,ve done both to my 08 GS and would recommend you go for it. I agree with you that it changes the look of the bike but IMHO it is outweighed by the wind protection. It took some time for me to get the right height and angle of screen/s but once I got it right then I was chuffed. I'm 5"10 and a bit so the screen is set to right back for maximum flow and higher screen is up about an inch form bottom. Works for me :D Might add that my seat is kept in the high position too :thumb2

My AF 330 (on a GSA) is sitting on medium at the back and has tobinators at the front. I also have some shorter Wunderlich screen mounts to try which might give a neater look. The angle is enough for screen and winglets to touch if I'm not careful.

Riding my bike back to back with a standard adventure the other bike feels slower because of turbulent air behind the screen.

The AF330 is better for me with top screen set lower. At very high speed it's best on the very lowest setting.

Side winds and motorway slipstream do cause more turbulence but the standard Adv screen is worse.

You don't say what year your bike is, if it's a 2010 or later you can use the guide holes for the winglets under the beak to fit them so you know they are in the right place, I did not use a drill I heated up a thin screw driver on the gas and pushed it up from under the beak, it went through like a hot knife through butter. I also have the Givi 330 and it's made a big difference, and I like the look better.

I started with the AF330 without winglets, and was rather disappointed. Only after adding the winglets the complete package made a lot of sense to me. Late 2006 bike, so the winglets are hold just by the drilled plastic bits and screws, but work without problems.

Looks? On a GS?? Are you serious???

My view on that is - who cares if it works? And for me it really does work! :thumb

"Soft"??!!

I can help but think it makes outlook a little 'soft' for want of a better word.....
What do you guys think??

How can I put this without causing offence...? Hmmm... Seeing as you ask, I'm thinking you are certainly showing that you're in touch with your feminine side, which in moderation is no bad thing :thumby:. But, you know, you could hang pink furry dice from the mirrors and it will still look like a GS. Yes, the Airflow has a different profile, but "soft"???

I have the AF fitted but no winglets - substantially more pleasant experience than with the standard 2006 GS screen, particularly when riding at higher speeds. I've considered getting a set of winglets but so far, have not got around to it.

The 330 looks fine on my GSA perfectly suiting the bike's (mostly) form over function looks. Or is it function over form. Whatever, its no less ugly than the standard barn door. More importantly it works.

Best thing I did to mine:thumb2

Original screen on the Gs is not good for me at all, I fitted the AF330 and NN winglets, it made a massive difference to me:thumby: definitely would recommend it.

Put the winglets on. They are brilliant. Lots of helmet noise comes from air rushing up into the air bubble behind the screen....winglets stop this.
