Hi All,

My first post so please bear with me.

I haven't purchased a GS yet still deciding on some options (how to tell the wife and explain the bank balance etc.)

I currently have a three bag setup on my Blackbird E41 keyless side bags and a E52 topbox, I would like to keep the present setup and Givi make brackets for the GS but, I was wondering about the exhaust will it need lowering.

Thanks in advance Excellent site

Hmmm!! not sure about Givi side cases on a GS, the top box certainly I use a Givi E50 myself, It sould be slimmer than the BMW ones though so even spaced out a bit to clear the exhaust it would still be slimmer than the BMW Panniers, might not be good for a pillion but then you might not travel with one, Thinking about it the mount would have to be clear of the can so it would not get hot at all, so in theory no problem, get a tape measure and measure the width on the bird, I think the BMW cases are 940mm wide on the bike.

No problemo

I have the Givi kit fitted to my 1150GS and have found no problems yet apart from them being a bit on the wide side...

I take a pillion on most journeys and as yet have had no complaints about getting on or off although, the getting on means using the footpeg as a step (I know but she has got short legs, what can I do?)

The Givi rack went on easy and the LHS stands out to miss the exhaust, if you can live with the width then the extra capacity over BMW kit is welcome. I have a VFR with wingrack so having one set of luggage for both bikes is an advantage.

Jimb and VFRman,

Thanks for the info

The setup is wide on the Bird as well so no problem there and the wife use the rider footpeg to get on the Bird (she also suffers from ducks desease) so she should be fine with the GS

Thanks :beerjug:
