in real life is there such a thing as a waterproof summer bike glove? all the ones I have had have leaked like a seive after not very long at all.

But they were waterproof at one time so you have answered the question yourself. JJH

My BMW goretex ones are totally waterproof, even after 5 years. :beerjug:

Think it might have been mentioned before but I find heated grips negate? the waterproofness (real word?) of all my Gortex gloves. Water tends to wick into the material. Even overgloves do the same.
In the end used thin gloves which will dry quick overnight if on a trip.

I don't know if this info is correct, but I read that Goretex works by wicking moisture away from the warmest surface to the coolest one.

Normally, in wet conditions, your hands, inside the gloves, are warmer than the external temperature and so the water is repelled. If you're using heated grips the water will probably be directed in towards your hands, away from the heat source of the grips.

It's a bit like that but Gore-Tex doesn't "wick". You need a pressure and temperature differential, i.e. warm, high pressure on the inside and cool, low pressure on the outside to drive transpiration across the membrane. That's probably why you see people complaining that heated grips reverse the effect. I've never experienced it but I always treat my leather gloves with Nikwax Glove Proof.

+1 Alpinestars 365

Been using them for a couple of years now without any problem

+1 For Alpenstar 365, had one set for 2 years and then the seam started to come undone... replaced no problem.
