Having got your attention....................

Indecision time here.

I have a once in a lifetime chance to purchase a brand new bike this year.

Do I buy a 1200GS or a 1200RT. I have a R1100RT now and love it.

I test rode a 1200GS for an hour and really loved that.

I can't make up my mind whether I would really miss the fairings and comfort of a RT.

However I liked the lower weight of the GS and love the looks.

I don't think I will ever go green laning so is it a waste to go for a GS.

Go on - Persuade me - You know it makes sense!!

:D :D :D :D

before I had the GS i never thought i'd go offroad either... just didn't factor into my biking experience... Now I'll reserve at least 1 sunday a month for offroad adventures... I'm sure you'd probably do the same, it's great riding over a bridge looking down at the dry riverbed and thinking "sod it, let's go play in the mud!"... then returning to the tarmac and chasing Ducati 996's home through the twisties, and winning!...

Buy a 12GS, you won`t lose as much cash at trade in time.

They are/will be a cult bike.

Bask in the reflected glory of TLWR "mines the newer version of the bikes they had!"

IMO not seen as the boring BMW

You`ve got a car havn`t you? why need such a big fairing?

They ALWAYS get a good wright up in the mags, even the sportsbike ones :thumb

Get a Yellow, black, black one as they ARE the superior ones ;)

Chris, buy a GS... Just think of all the P**s taking you can do as a fully fledged member of this forum!

I once got highsided off an R1150RT as you must have found they lack ground clearance with the centre stand touching down frequently. The GS has much better ground clearance.

Which of these shoes would you rather wear on a weekend??

Do you own a pair of these??

'Nuff said.

1200GS ? computer says no
1200RT ? and furthermore I declare: no

1150GS Adventure ? 'smore like it

I never go looking for green lanes on my Adventure, but I turn into many roads that I would have avoided on my Pan European.

One major benefit of the bike is that you don't turn back whether it be cobbles, fords, road works, grass banks, mega puddles, sand/pebbles or even in the dunes. The bikes breed confidence and encourage riding.

Great fun.

A little late but wot the heck...
I'm getting the GS, 'cos as BMW sez...
"90 % of the world isn't paved."
Sometimes it seems more like 98%... and the paved bits can be rough.
I ride with friends that have RTs and Ss, (I have anR11RS), and we're always ridin' past these intriguing looking roads, or opting not to go some place we've heard about, 'cos there's gravel involved. In the meantime, the plodders are staked out all over the nice paved riding bits, giving out fast riding awards.
...I figured it's about time I did somethin' about it.
:D  :D  :D

Well Done...

and welcome to the dark, er GS side :D

Now just count down the days....:P

I collected my Adventure in the faster black/yellow version at the end of January (I wanted it now!) from Balderstones and it it rocks! and is quicker through the bumpy Bedfordshire lanes to work than my Daytona, and does everything well. The only down side is it is bloody heavy with a full tank and panniers but that soon goes when you get rolling.

Nice one Chris......You'll enjoy it more than you can imagine!!!

Now take a look at the national events section and come along for a pint or six and a good ride out with the rest of the tossers!!!

Meet you in the bar ;)
