I am going on a trail bike weekend on my Dakar, should I remove the chain guard and/or mud catcher or leave it on? There is a lot of rain due for the weekend in Ireland.Thanks.

Don't know. It doesn't matter.

Just enjoy the weekend :thumb

Leave it on and clear it out when you have to.

Alternatively, get a dremel to it and cut off the crud catcher. I did this to mine before I changed to a nice ali one, but the cut down one looked good and worked just as well.

What tyres you got on? They may be your biggest limiting factor if it's muddy.

As Spout says, just have fun :thumb

Thanks for the info. I am planing to remove the the lot and the screen for the weekend. I am doing a trail riding weekend in the North of Ireland so mud etc for sure and I have the right tyres on Metz. Kangos.Check out www.trailbike ireland.co.uk for info. I will let you know next week how I get on with the Dakar off road.

Forgot to mention. The front sprocket cover will collect a load of mud (unseen), it would be a good idea after the ride to take it off and clean it out.

And don't forget to take the rubber inserts out of the footpegs.
