So is it time yet to max the credit cards and withdraw all the savings and buy gold?

Not claiming to be a financial expert but recent trends sees gold increasing or holding its value. Surely with Italy going to shit this week, the Euro will lose value.

No currencies are really safe. Swiss Franc was until they pegged it's rate against the Euro. Dollar and Sterling could all be in trouble if Italy needs a bailout which is looking ever more likely. Apparently already gone past the point of no return....

all you need is nerve and know when to get out , not too late i may add , its gone up 7.86 percent in the last 30 days....

any geologists about, regarding a heads up where to search?
instead of a "fish dash", we could go panning for gold in some lovely spot.
if lady Luck smiles on aurum, the feed and drink will be free.

Too late now to be buying commodiies like gold and silver. The really smart money went into silver about two years ago. Swiss francs have the largest gold bullion deposits to back the currency so that's where to put your loot if your worried.

Personally i'm not all that concerned but i did recently take some money out of my credit union accoun and banked it instead, The CU's could be in for some pain over the next 12 months.

Rumour has it that the smart money is now moving into junior gold mining companies

I have AIM shares in a junior gold minor. I invested before they first processed their first gold at 4.25p per share. It's now a year on, they're regularly pouring gold every month and the share price now trades at 1.4p
The market is a real mess at the moment, I also have shares in two junior oilers which are the same. They'll all recover when theres more market stability, I'm in long so I'm not crying my eyes out (yet)

My £10k is now 'worth' about £3k

Smart money my arse!!!

It's one of many that I hold but I got in at under 2p so am not an 'anguish & Loss' victim. It's one of a few that I hold. So far has been a pretty rotton year for most mining stocks but with the POG advancing, that just cannot continue. 2012 should be a better year (not that I'm an expert?

As I said I got in at 4.25p and watched it climb (as you'll know well) to 6.75p before it fell off a cliff.
I also hold XEL and RRL, both of which have done the same. I chose the right stocks but the wrong time! Give it another 18 months and hopefully we'll be 'blue' again!

Exactly. There are some real bargains out there at the moment
