Clinging to reality by a finger tip.
My 2020 Goldwing is rapidly approaching it's big 16k mile service and I'd like to give the job to an independant Honda garage, hopefully with Goldwing experience.
I've got a slight memory of there being such a guy in North Wales but I can't recall the details.
So, does anyone know of a suitable Honda guy anywhere?

Thanks.

Surely if it’s a 2020 bike it’s due for its 24 k service.

DIY , bit time consuming , but not difficult. Allow two easy days for air filter / valve check / plugs + the usual (coolant if fussy , brake fluid if water content above 1/2- 1%). Almost certain inlet valves fine - and about half exhaust valves need tweek (adjusted) - easy , see my Youtube video !!

Theres a very good indi goldwing bloke in Rotherham who knows his onions. If you need his contact details, let me know.

I have heard of a chap near Telford. I'll try and find his details. (y)

(Edit: Here you go....his name is Dave Partridge. I have no personal experience of him, but he is well thought of by the UK 'Wing facebook members and his labour is VAT free apparently (y) )

I can , first you need to "get / understand" the concept : The clearance quoted is NOT at the valve stem , which confused me at first - but rather at the roller. There IS a valve clearance at stem quoted , but you have to search to find it. I basically used that dimension , and the pitch of the thread on the adjusting screw , to calculate how many degrees off fully tight , the adjuster needs to be turned (loosened) , to give the correct clearance. I then used a Sealy (spelling ??) tappet adjusting tool , with a marked angle measuring disc and a datum line , to give me the correct "movement". No feeler gauge needed (but wise to check after) , and takes about 10 to 15 secs per valve to adjust.

Now to dig up link :
see if that works

Thanks for your help everyone.

I removed the top shelter when I first got the bike to install the GPS power lead so with the help of Fred Harmons videos I’ll dig down further and replace the air filter.

Thanks again

I'm fairly sure yours will be an airbag model , if so , Freds Videos (which I do not have and hence did not use) do NOT cover the airbag. Not really an issue , but some "care " is needed - the airbag assy is held on with 4 Torx screws (easy enough to take out) , but there are a number of items / loooms / clips attached to the frame wich need to be taken off , before the frame can be moved enough to get airfilter lid off. The air bag loom is long enough to allow assy far enough out of the way for what you need - just make some notes and take a few snaps to help yourself at re-assy time (from memory both snorkels need to come off air filter lid in situ , to allow lid off). Have fun , and do remove power supply (granny - eggs)
