Howdy folks

Having trawled the forum for a day or two now I'm still as confused as ever over the opinion of which is better - 1100GS or 1150GS or 1150GSA. (notice i didn't mention 1200GS - too many pennies :nenau )

Anyway, I thought I had made my decision to go for a 1100GS until today when I was offered a 2004 plate 1150GSA with 40k on the clock for £4500. Mileage doesn't put me off as it'll be just loosened up nicely now I reckon. Its in really good order with the extras of heated grips, zega top box and a few other goodies besides.

My initial reaction is that I should have it but your words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hello mate and welcome to the board,

That is a very very good price for an 04 ADV, rip his arm off before he changes his mind.

Good luck

£4,500 ??
that's WAY over the top!

Give me his number and I'll tell him not to take the p*** out of you. :nono

...please ?

Actually that's just gotta be a misprint - right ?

Make sure you do an HPI check on that Adv and as long as it's clear, buy it immediately.....no question.

Take it home, change the output bearing and alternator belt, then enjoy it :thumb

Very very good price, and the ultimate incarnation of the GSrange :thumb

Welcome aboard BTW ;)

Sounds like a deal too good to miss, 40K is nothing for a boxer twin providing it is in good condition with FSH. Check for the obvious like engine/frame numbers and HPI. Do a forum search and find the typical faults/concerns and if all checks out, buy it quick before somebody else does.

I've never owned an 1150 Adv but my mate has just p/exd his with 30k and the only problem he had was a ticking noise from the throttle bodies (tinny sound like tappets) and surging. He had new throttle bodies under warranty which cured the noise and surging. Apparently the throttle butterfly shaft bearings can wear letting air bypass the shaft and cause lean running and surging plus the butterflies rattle hence the noise.

Good luck with the purchase, I hope you get it. If you do, welcome to the chapter. :thumb

Thanks to those of you who answered my question - Schtum and STUBBS excluded

I thought it was a good price too I must admit.

Just waiting on him getting back to me on a couple of points.

... and no phooey, it's not a misprint :thumb

Didn't get the chance to bite his hand off :doh

He went and sold it to someone else :spitfire

Anyway, please see the for sale/wanted section if you know of anyone selling another.

Cheers :beerjug:
