In CA1 2TU area......Botch - something or other... :nenau

I'm being sent to assist my Cumbrian colleages for the rest of this week.

:fnikefork

Tuna and Reggae sauce sarnies unless I find a bait emporium.

:rob

PS: Botch yer own gate - I only botch tefalones.

Theres a chippy by the moniker Fiona fish & chips, if you go in the Lanes (like Eldon Square, well alreet not at all like Eldon Square, but its a shopping mall) theres a Subway / KFC / etc.

Loads of Pizza kebab takeaways / chinkies, me fatha moved to Brampton, so I've been in the city a few times like.

You'll not starve bonny lad

Just round the corner from the Telephone Exchange.

:clap:clap:clap

a bit further out, but worth the trip if you're mobile - there's a chippy in Longtown (head north of Carlisle on the A7) on the main road on a corner opposite a hotel - I think it's the only chippy in town and Longtown is not a big place.

Haggis or fish and chips - " pure dead bruwyint by the way, ken, no ? "

Warning - slightly strange opening hours. Sorry, can't remember the name but it's changed recently anyway - might be the Codfather now :blast :D

It's called The Border Cod, isn't it...? I s'pose there had to be a reason to go to Longtown, other than to pass through it on the A7 on the way to the Scottish Border - bloody awful one-horse town otherwise. I s'pose there's always the ski warehouse on Brampton Road....:)

found it on that googley doofer:
The Border Cod 4 English St, Longtown, Carlisle, Cumbria CA6 5SD‎ - 01228 791 631‎

There used to be a half decent chippy on the corner of Portland Place and Cecil Street (mere yards from Botchergate) that did crinkle cut chips :nenau , but having just looked on street view to remind myself of the street names, I see it's now a Chinese Takeaway.

Mmmmmm chips

...and in Botchergate is a chippie right opposite the Hein Gericke shop.

Looking more promising: My security card won't open the exchange gates in town and as you know, parking seems a nightmare...had to go to Tesco for a wee :blush

Don't suppose you know where the BT depot is? ....the one that got flooded a couple of years back.... must be by the river, I guess...?

:blast

If you turn right off Botchergate there is a white fronted Italian Bistro/Restaurant, can recommend the Cannelloni there, very good.
