Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Am still in Argentina and the TKC rear is getting a bit shagged. I am hoping to find an alternative here at one of the dealers as my rear is still in BA and I won't be able to get it sent over here before we cross into Chile. Alternatively, I may try my luck in Santiago. Conties are hard to come by in Argentina and possibly Chile too, so do any of you know a good alternative rear to match the TKC front tyre I have? Going to do lots moe tarmac, and inevitably some more gravel/dirt tracks too so grip there is a must!!

Any suggestions?

Hi Nick,
So you both made it to Mendoza despite the wet and wind...well done!!!
It's a bit warmer there huh?
For tyres in Mendoza, the best selection is in the main Honda dealer on Avenida Jose Vicente Zapata.
I run Pirelli MT60's which is a possible match for TKC but go and have a look.
They do an MT80 and 90 as well, all on/off road tyres... have a look here and click on the alternatives at the bottom to see the 80 and 90's:

Pirelli are made in Mercosur (the latin EEC) so are reasonably priced and more importantly, available down there.
Contis, Michelins etc are imported so are expensive (£160+) and via BsAs, so no good if you need it now.
The BM main agent is in the centre too and will probably have something.
Note: it is a holiday this Monday so nothing open till Tuesday.
More choice in Chile, but how shagged your current one as to whether you can wait???
Santiago is about 250-300 miles away from Mendoza, thru the Andes and a stunning ride!
Sonia knows both of the dealers, so can help you out with that.
Have a good stay in the city, it's a great place, as you are probably discovering...!!!
Saludos desde Londres con sol!!
Charlie
