Since the last time I had a :GS was an 1100 about 3 years ago. One of the main reasons I got rid of it was vibrations through the handle bars particually the right grip on very long journeys.
A number of times it gave me 'vibration white finger' where at least one of my fingers went completely white, drained of blood after a couple of hours in the saddle.
I don't know whether things weren't balanced properly though my dealer told me that with fuel injection & B*w's self-diagnosis etc. it would always have perfect fueling.
I just hope I'm not going to suffer with the Adv, maybe it's just me  has anyone else suffered this little quirk?

Cheers John:beerjug:

I have had the same problem on several of my past bikes, Honda/Triumph/Bmw K, but not, so far on my ADV.

Not on my Adv..

I did a 300 km blast yesterday almost all at 160kmh+, no numb fingers, just a smile:)

Funny, but I got more vibration on my RT than the Adv, also, when I ride with R1100S riders I notice them doing finger exercises at every opportunity:confused:

Corrected it for you mate :D

Nearly all, ahem, unpleasant vibrations can be cured by accurately adjusting the valve clearances and synching the throttle bodies, in my experience....

Mike:)

ps Johnny - that avatar's bloody awful - keep thinking my past is catching up with me & I'm going blind....:P

Mass exit from the piggy bank?

"......to reduce the vibration in handlebars, you can silicone a roll of nickels in each bar-end. By adding mass, you will lower the resonant frequency of the bars, hopefully below idle. Any weight will work, but the nickels are convenient because they’re the right diameter."

This is obviously an excellent idea for the man with a Harley and more money than sense!

An even better idea than merely altering the harmonics would be to leach some of the energy out of the system by employing the resonating mass of the handlebars as a micro generator. This is the coming clever solution .

Would this not be ideal for transfering power to the gloves to run all your on-body bluetooth kit?

Yes, the Tiger is a great solution if you want to pogo round corners and see the value of the bike plummet as soon as you wheel it out of the showroom Howard:D :D :D

Bob

besides, I have had both a 955 Tiger and a GS Adv (currently) and the Tiger buzzes at 65+ mph way more than the GS does. No comparison.

blood

Fingers drained of blood ,where does it go cant go back up yr arm as that should already be full . Dog
