Just been to HG, to have a look at their Tuareg vented jacket @ £90. I liked the venting system, sales guy comes over and suggests a slightly dearer one with Cordura elbows, @ £109. But, it only appeared has vented arms, and it was waterproof, which doesn't bother me.

I said, the trouble is I've ended up with a collection of jackets, (Ashman leather, BMW Seattle, Hein Gericke winter jacket, can' t remember the name,)

Shame there's no all singing all dancing jacket. He produces this jacket, with the new Gore-Tex XCR. Jacket has armour that moulds to fit, Although being black I was put off. But no! Jacket has some super dooper reflective quality that makes it cooler than not wearing it.

So, I'm tempted, but it's £400  Most I've spent was £180 on the Hein Gericke jacket.
My concern is that it seemed a bit lacking in the pocket department, and the collar was just a collar, not the storm collar, like on the HG & Seattle jackets.

Now that I've realised that I'm capable of spending this extravagant amount of dosh on a jacket, I have questions for you.
Has anyone got experience of this jacket, what are the alternatives? Visited J & S, looked at a Rukka, seemed bulky by comparison to the HG. What do you reckon chaps? The HG had the heat reflective gubbins, think the guy mentioned Kevlar as well. Just too confused now.

The Goretex XCR is used by BMW in their Streetguard 1 & 2 jackets (I bought a Streetguard 1 for £99, in SPC's sale) and also in their longer Tourguard version (Jefferies BMW have some in Black @50% off - £250)

Rukka use XCR too, but their jackets are c. £700

I've seen the same and also share concerns about how warm it is. For a few £££ more you can get the BMW Streetguard 2 with zip out thermal liners. That's the one for me.

Reality check  Why spend that sort of money when my other jackets are ok. Might just as well wait until the winter jackets are knackered before I consider going down the "one jacket" route.

Burning question now is what do I spend the £400 on, that I've just saved :D

Send it to me please, i'll pay the postage. :D

 The HG XCR jacket is only £250 in the catalogue, same as the Cruise GTX.

Personally, I went for the Cruise mainly because I wanted a winter jacket and it has the storm collar but it also has vents that should make it better for warmer use than the XCR ?

Adam :)

£250 in the catalogue. :spitfire So much for the interest free & dropping the price to £350 then

Hang on ....

they haven't made a catalogue for 2006, preferring to have it all on a website.

Clucking bell! New XCR jacket is £399.99 online

So how come last year's XCR jacket was only £249.99? Did someone drop a clanger? Might be worth hunting down last year's if it's still available.

Adam
