Got it fixed but when will it poke its bottom lip out again?

Hi,
It's been nearly two years since I looked on here!
Good to see its still going strong.

I've got the bug back and want to get back out!

The reason being is that I've got an 06 GSA which, had been one of the best pieces of kit I've ever had.

The old girls taken me to many parts of Europe including the very first "Mountain Madness" in the Pyrenees. That included a high speed dash from Calais to Spain then two days off-roading, lovely! Came last though...incompetent orienteering and over-relaxed attitude.

I was really impressed by the bike but was totally aware of the issues:
Fuel pump controller, final drive problems, engine/transmission seals, abs issues oh and the occasional right hand pot explosion!
I can't remember if there were other things...

I had the seals done on warranty, I carry a spare fuel pump controller and the final drive seal was replaced.

Now, early in 2011, I went to start it and the abs/servo failed, while laid up over the winter...?
It really felt like I had trusted the image but reality had kicked me in the balls.
I did connect an Oxford type charger to its flat battery while still connected before the abs failed. Did I fry it myself?
I've a BMW charger to be sure now.

BMW kindly assisted me in replacing the parts which also included the newer final drive with the drain plug.

What I'm asking, in a very waffly way is, will these parts fail agin? I was hoping that the new style final drive may last longer and BMW modified the abs/servo system in the retro fitted warranty parts?

It's done 26k miles.

Many thanks,
Jim

You'll be fine mate. FD's aren't completely bombproof as the bearing will sometimes fail but there are guys on here who will do a rebuild for around £300 tops which is better than the dealer option. FPC's are good now and a failure is very rare after they replaced the faulty ones. Don't know about the ABS servo because mine doesn't have those but I don't believe there is a known issue. Things fail sometimes.

Despite the doom and gloom you will hear from a few folk, the 1200 is a good solid bike and no better or worse than anything else out there but I would suggest the more you ride it, the better it becomes and the less small issues you will have.
