Incredible as it may seem..

The govt is opening up info its various branches collect in a limited fashion to encourage ideas to use the data productively. There is even a £20k prize as you might have seen on the beeb.

For us the site of most interest is http://openspace.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/openspace/

Sign up for an OS API code and then start using OS maps in a similar way to the Google mapping API .

Before too long I think we'll see some bright spark plotting green lanes without TROs on their Garmin - that's my <strike>hope</strike> plan anyway:)

Any geeks here feel up to it?

(If you sign up for an API, make sure you register your site name with a leading www or otherwise you won't get it to work.)
