Hi There,

I am looking at my options list and it seems as though the BMW navigator is very expensive the benefits being that its bmw fitted, and the mounts and battery connectivity have been tried and tested. I am a little confused through as I have read its only "water resistant" which seems a little stupid for an exposed part on the bike. Has anyone had any experience with alternative GPS systems I am also looking at the zumo from Garmin which seems to be pretty ideal I just do not seem to find a mounting brackets etc to suit a bmw.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jimmy.

dave ( can't afford it) gs.

I have a streetpilot 2610 (basically the BMW Navigator). It's attached to the bike, a 12GS using a RAM handle bar mount on the cockpit bar above the instruments. That works fine. The power cable runs over the tank and is direct wired onto the battery via an inline fuse. Works fine. Others solder onto the back of the accessories socket on the left of the bike.

I believe the Zumo comes with the handlebar RAM mounting kit so that should be fairly easy to fit as well.

ISTR that Dutchman is now using a Zumo which probably means that Motorrad Concepts will have specialist bracket on offer now or very soon.

Got a Zumo, using the Motorrad Concepts mount which although a bit pricey is absolutely superb, fits in the centre of the bars on my 12. Recommended.
