GPS Christmas Bargains at Staples

Just been into my local Staples - all gone b*gger! the manager reckons Staples are selling them off as they are going to be stocking different models in the new year so it doesn't look as if they'll be getting more in to sell at that price.

FYI, after ringing around there are no StreetPilot III's at Worcester, Gloucester, Kidderminster, West Bromwich and Redditch.

Staples are not going to restock these according to 2 of the guys I spoke with.

CostCo next then.

Tell him that the toy he bough is now, two weeks latter, cheaper.

I'm considering asking the Office of Fair Trade and the Intelligence Services for a full investigation. I'm certain that there is a sinister conspiration behind this Staples move...
 
Picked up the last 'V' in Exeter Staples yesterday, but they still had one SPIII left.....
 
Just got the last eTrek Legend in Staples Bristol for £125, and it's the full, deluxe package with Europe Metroguide CD, which I beleive makes it a very good deal? Thing is, I don't think I need the Euro stuff, as we're emigrating to NZ next year. Does the CD have a resale value? I haven't taken it out of it's wrapper yet. I will be wanting some mapping for NZ in due course, as a complete novice in GPS, what do I do?
 
Well, at least I have the consolation of having a BMW System 4 at half price at SPC: 125 quids...

Now, anyone knows if Staples also sell cookers?
I need one of those ceramics jobs...

But the buyer has not filled out the payment invoice yet and only has (3) on his name, so I'm waiting for an e-mail now.

Thanks for info, nabbed the last one at Reading Staples,

Help, but the unlock routine & garmin are driving me mad.

the mapping appears to be V4 and old stock and not that detailed, or is it just me ?

Yes, it is Version 4.0 of City Select, but see other posts about not registering yet so you should get the updated version f.o.c.
However, I find it very detailed. I was driving around the back roads in Cleveland & Durham yesterday, testing it out, and it was putting names to almost all the back roads. Try selecting the lowest scale when viewing on the PC - each scale shows more & more detail.

Until the maps are unlocked you won't get the detail in Mapsource, sounds like you haven't done this yet.
 
Staples at Becton has 1 GPS V left in stock as at 11:30 on the 1st Jan.

Thanks for the tip guys. I was going to buy the City Select software for my Garmin Ique @ $350 US but now I get a V for the bike and a copy of the software for about the same amount of money.

Now to convince the missus that it was a good idea to buy my 4th GPS. I bet she wants me to sell one or something??? :D
