Hi there everyone,

I hope someone may be able to help me. I am trying to upload a route onto my garmin gps II+ using autoroute. I have built the route and saved it, opened GPS Utility, sent it to the gps and I get the following message...

"Route waypoint was deleted. Received an invalid WPT. Transfer has been completed."

WTF???? I have only done a short route (2 miles) coz i just wanna test it for when i do longer routes, what am i doing wrong???

Thanks in advance!
Cian

Cian, how many points are in the route?
I can't remember, but it's not a huge number per route on the gpsII+ something like 20. You need to limit these to major junctions.

Cian, I downloaded the pdf to check, seeing as you have my paper copy.

It's 20 routes of 30 waypoints. (p46)

To route a long distance you need to build up smaller leg routes of 30 waypoints, and switch to the new route at the end of the last one.

I only had two waypoints in it, is this where i am going wrong? Why did it say i had put in an invalid waypoint (WPT)?

I'll have a go at three or more waypoints see what happens.

Cheers
Cian

put three waypoints in, my house, her house and my grandads, and it still says i put in an invalid WPT. I bet its really easy as well once you get the hang of it innit!!

i'll mail you hang on. if anyone else knows what's going on feel free to chip in.

If you are saving the route in Autoroute, make sure you have no more than 10 waypoints, otherwise if you are using the demo version of GPSU it wont accept the route with more than that.
Alsso check that the memory on the GPS is not full. Delete all unnecessary routes and waypoints.
Open the route in GPSU, drag the mouse from the left upper corner of the list to the bottom right corner to highlight all columns, then select "domwload all highlighted" (or similar, I'm writting from memory).
On the dilaogue box, check "waypoints" and "routes"
Should be fine because that's the way I do it routinelly.
Let me know how you progress...

Thank god you're here Yosi!! Ok i did what you said above, sent it, and the gps said transfer complete, but when i went into "routes" there was nothing there! looked thru all the available routes (there are 20 right) and they were all just empty.

Cian
