Can anyone help with a suggestion on the best way to mount a Garmin Zumo 340 to my bike?

The bike came with the GPS mounting for the BMW Navigator IV but I'm not paying £600+ for that. So I removed the Nav IV mounting bracket and attached my Zumo 340 but as you can see its not great. It hasn't moved a millimetre in over 1500 miles but it just doesn't look great. I've searched and searched the Internet for a suitable bracket but nothing so far.

Suggestion welcome please :thumb2

Did the original power cable fit the 340.

I have a 350 and pick up new bike soon so wanted to do what you are doing.

I have a Tourtech mount that the Garmin mount sits in. It's a lot stronger or seems to be.

BMW do a bracket that will mount onto the Zumo cradle.

From memory it is about £35

Hi Wadham,

I bought a CANBUS connector from BMW (something around the £10 mark) and soldered that to the cable provided with the Zumo unit. There is a discussion on this site about it (plus I also found a few others describing something similar)

Because there was quite a lot of cable to play with and also a block in the middle of it, I routed the cable down the left hand side and into a recess in the nose. I then routed the cable under the headlight to the right hand side where the canbus connector is.

The Zumo powers down after 1 minute you switch the ignition off. You can leave the Zumo in place without worrying if the GPS is draining your battery.

If you get stuck, I can post further pictures.

Do you know is there is a part number karlp? The mount that came with the bike fits a Zumo 660 but doesn't work for the 340/350 as it's 90 degrees round the wrong way. It uses the same size mounting plate (I think it's called AMPS) - just the wrong way round...

I have the US version (350) which only differs in the maps supplied; the case is the same. I like mine mounted on the left side of the handlebars because I find it easier to reach to use the touch screen, and it does not block my vision of the road or the top of the tachometer like one in the BMW position would. I used a ram mount.

I used a mount as per below to mount my Rider 5. Would also suit the Garmin mount with the 4 hole fitting.

Thanks Mcinlb - that's just the sort of thing I am looking for. Problem is, no matter how hard I search the web, I can't find anything like that. Maybe it's me - I dunno. Got any idea where I can get one from?

Cheers :thumb2
