I've been running my GPS V on Garmin City Select 4.0 since I bought it second-hand 6 months ago. Having finally started using it and getting the hang of it, I noticed that there is an upgrade available now, costing $100+VAT.

Is it really worth it? The V only has 19mb memory, so not able to store lots of stuff anyway, I'd be using it on a few tours abroad (where you really need more storage).

Any thoughts?

thanks

Martin

Martin,

one thing to consider is that v7 maps are larger (ie need more memory) than earlier versions. I use City Navigator, so I can't tell you how much bigger your City Select maps will be - but if I only had 19Mb to play with, I'd want the least memory intensive mapping available.

Mike:)

ps As an example, European City Navigator maps of GB (not NI) is 154Mb in v7 - it's 130Mb in v4

pps V4 European City Navigator is perfectly adequate - you're not going to get lost using an older map version...

I agree with Mike, not really worth the extra cash, spend a couple of quid on an AA 2005 atlas and check out for new roads on the routes you are planning......
