Be gentle not too much tech. speak. What is essential, I have limited knowledge on this. Touch screeen or pen thingummy? waterproof, I.e. IP rating. Don't need microsoft? do I?/ just basic navigation system. Suitable for bike and car, she's paying for it. HA HA .

I use TomTom Navigator 3 on a PDA.

1) I already owned the PDA.

2) TomTom Navigator software from eBay at £90.00

3) Wired Rikaline GPS from eBay at £65.00

4) European maps from eBay at £98.00

Presently I use the map pocket from a tank bag to house the whole shebang. I am considering buying a Otterbox to fit on the bars of the bike.

Mind you it might be better to wait for the new TomTom waterproof "Go" due this summer

It is called TomTom Rider

It really looks the business

Chris

Send a message to Richie. He was thinking about selling his Garmin 60c which is what I use on the bike and in the car.

I can recommend the Garmin Quest, paid £329 for mine, easy to use and swaps between vehicles in seconds. It's also got a good internal battery so you can use it on foot or even onboard an aircraft (as I did last week, absolutely fascinating :) ) Also it's packed with points of interest, such as hotels, car hire and nearest fuel etc etc.

....so about £400 outlay for summat that's not waterproof? How much is a new Quest? How about a new Streetpilot III at £299+VAT
