A long way from where I started!
Hi guys, I wonder if you may be able to help.
I have a client, that wants to buy a number of Tom Tom/Navman ( only need UK maps ) etc type gps units for their fleet cars. My problem is that I can't source them cheaply enough in the UK to get them interested.

Anybody know of somewhere to buy form over the water in mainland Europe.
I'm currently in negotiations with a firm in Holland, but they seem a bit expensive too.

Thanks chaps ( and chapesses )

I was directed to this yesterday after it was reported in a local west london paper.

The Hillingdon Times website reports : A driver was slapped with a *£60 fine and three points on their licence* when a gps satellite navigation system directed them down onto an illegal road.

The link article is at :-

And the offending gps unit ... TomTom !.

Wow, that snot good.
Although I have to say that both my 2610 and ique have taken me down a few questionable roads.

even with the use main road option checked....

Thanks for the ifno, I'll look into it.

The Tom Tom that I use at work, regularly tries to send me down one way streets. It's not useless, but I don't really trust it. It came bundled with a Panasonic P.D.A..........Now that really is the last word in complete crap !!!. :spitfire

Unfortunately for some people a navigation system is no replacement for a brain.

Paper maps have always had errors in them and of course electronic maps will never ever be flawless either. The change in media doesn't make people that have more trust in maps than the reality any more fit to be on the roads.
