Was in Haute Savoie last week on a climbing/via ferrata trip with my son. We came across a lovely little campground in Veryier Du Lac - which is a 10 minute drive/ride south of Annecy on the right bank/Rive Droite.

Less than an hour from Chamonix via Megeve. That's a beautiful ride too.

The campground is called 'Camping De La Plage'. Its only a 2* but has all the facilities you need and is clean. Only 30-odd places. It's 5m from the edge of the lake and next to the public beach with diving boards.

Here's the beach;

You can order bread every morning and they do pizza on a Tuesday delivered from the local resto.
It's adjacent to two bar/restaurants. 5mins walk up the hill into the village gets you to a supermarket and that amazing pizza restaurant -

10 euros per pizza !!

The lake is refreshing. You can hire canoes and kayaks etc.

The owners speak fluent english for those of you linguistically challenged :D

It's also worth noting that if you head down the rive droite, southwards, you go up and over a hill and as you descend it, there's another campground on the left and one large one adjacent to the lake on the right. After that there is free parking and easy access to the lake right to the southern tip.

Oi give the area 10/10 :thumb2

Thanks for that.

A popular destination, so handy to know :thumb2

There is also the municipal lake 'swimming pool' just outside the town too, easy walking distance from the center .... for anyone hotelling

Happy to oblige :D

Despite living in the region for 2 years (nearer Geneva), I'd never come across this place. I suppose I'd either done day trips or wild camped in the high mountains at the time.

For any fit Tossers, I thoroughly recommend taking a harness and via ferrata lanyard and helmet in your kit and doing some of that whilst touring. I've been doing them for years and never get tired of doing them. Much more sociable than conventional, roped climbing. You could buy a second hand helmet on ebay for less than a tenner that would be fine for the job and bin it after you're done to save space.

Here's my 16 year old son having some fun;

And at Thone 20 mins from the campground .

A lovely area. There are many outdoor activities available. I had my first hang gliding and paragliding experiences there.
