Recently discovered some great roads around the Peaks and Derbyshire Dales, almost as though they were made purposely for the GS/GSA. Stunning scenery, great twisties, little traffic :thumb2

*makes copy of images before someone sees sense and removes them*

edit; i've made a mapsource route from your screen captures, thanks.

SSSssshhhhhh!!!!
What are you doing??? :blast:blast

Surely there's not so many UKGSers in the area that the roads will suddenly be chocker?
Will remove pics until I decide whether or not I've dropped a clanger :blast

Edit, I can't edit the original post to remove pics :(

Don't worry Snerkler,

Looking at your pictures you've circumnavigated some great GS roads so as long as everyone uses the ones you've picked I'll be a happy man! :D

Ah give one of your neighbours across the water a couple of good routes. Otherwise I'll be awful bored in a couple of weeks time when I'm over :D

Have not long got back from riding half of that route. Went over to Longnor off the A515, then across to Bakewell and thru to Matlock, just to check out the Bennett Babes. Quite liked the tall blonde one with legs that went on for ever....:drool

Oh well, I guess I'll have to go find some new roads now :blast

The roads I posted are actually pants, full of potholes, and have dirty great big trucks on them doing 25mph with no passing places

If the mods would kindly remove the pics, or open up the edit function again for me I'd be very grateful :thumb2

Good call.

All the roads around there are rubbish!

I think we should sort out a ride for the 29th and find some more rubbish roads to escape the telly box thing.
I've heard that there's a bit of a do on.

Forced day off so out for a quick bimble.

did that entire route the other day on a pretty much worn out rear tourance. didnt think I'd made it up one of the hills because of all the bloody loose stone. great route.

I'm thinking you went off on a different road as the road surfaces are pretty good on the route I gave. Some of the roads, especially the single track roads around there can be pretty bad, but no probs for the GS/GSA though :thumb2 Some can be a pain though as you have to open and close gates. I avoid these.

ah yeah, I must have went wrong then. I ended up opening and closing a couple of gates. Looked like the loose stone on one of the hills was pretty fresh. Well it was, now it's got bald patches all the way up the hill where I was fighting for grip.

I have the track saved on my gps anyway, I'll have to load it up and compare with your route and see where I deviated.

Chip Shop Stop

If trying to avoid the hoards of fellow GSERs, be sure to stop at the chippy in Longnor (at the crossroads). Best chips around for miles - makes a ride to Rainbow from the Wirral worth it for that alone :drool
