Just got to work and the missus rings - 'I think I've got a puncture, the computer thingy says 1.4 bar at the rear' :spitfire

Generally, the forecourt air hoses used in this country won't go anywhere near the valve either front or rear :spitfire so we arrange a meet at one that still uses the old rubber hose job - bet the bloody air is old as well :blast

Had a good look at our new shiny nail, had a good swear :spitfire put in 3 bar and sent her on her way to the BumV shop - 'Can't do anything with that, you need a new one Madam.......:)'

She is now back on the road again and I'm £250 poorer........:spitfire

And to really rub the salt in, the old tyre was dam nearly new... ..

Bet she did'nt remember to ask for the nail either :D

Why does it always happen when you've just spent a fortune on new tyres? Between car and bikes, we've had to replace 3 tyres in the last two years with less than 1000k on them.

It's a bummer for sure

Maybe some of these would save running around garage forecourts next time (always hoping that there won't be a next time) :D

Where abouts on the tyre was the nail, I bet it could have been plugged for a couple of quid. £250 is a lot for a tyre even with fitting. I think someone has been fleeced.:blast

Twas about an inch in from the edge, and yes, they could have plugged it :) but recommended that a new tyre was the way to go :thedummy They could'nt guarantee that it would'nt blow out resulting in god knows what :yikes

Me being an ol' fart went for safe option :rob

I can also tell yas that the price is right, well, maybe not 'right' but that's what they charge - BumV main agents - but when your world is going flat all around you etc etc etc.......

I think I would have plugged it and gone to a local tyre shop for a new one rather than a BMuu stealership

Your punctured tyre (with plug) will be on one the the mechanics bikes before long

I just put a new Tourance on the front at a BumV dealer - cost me £100 on the nose with balancing and fitting

:thumb2

Last time I had new tyres fitted to the old 1100, I had the tyre shop fit 90 deg angled valves, fitter was a bit suprised, said they were for scooters, but it sorted all my tyre inflating problems :thumb

Two weeks later the bike was run over by a lorry :(
