Mrs Gecko has an Ipod - we both have itunes accounts and I purchased an album but can't for the life of me get it onto her ipod .....!! I can see her ipod on the pc I can access it but I can't get my purchased music uploaded to her ipod.
:nenau any ideas or is this one of these dumb ass copyright protection schemes that is designed to stop us listening to music when and how we might want to ?

You can do it. Well, at least I did but I'd have to do it again to work out how to. I certainly managed to transfer some stuff out of my iTunes on my laptop into SWMBO's iPod.

You might find it's easier to do it with a different bit of software - try Media Monkey.

try binning I tunes

use doubletwist or copy trans.

double twist is great and will do almost everything i tunes will.

Copy trans is a quick and simple way of putting music on or taking off an ipod

I burn cd's to a central repository using MS media player.
Each user of the PC has their own log on each has their own copy of itunes.
Itunes is setup to use the central repository as it's music library.
The rest you can work out yoursen.

Good luck:thumb

Ok here goes..... :blagblah

Mrs Gecko has an Ipod, I presume you also have one because you mention you both have itunes accounts.

Do you share the same PC to connect the ipods to?

Do you each have a playlist or do you both have all the music from the Music Library?

When both ipods are connected (seperately of course) can you see the new album in the top folder on the left hand side, Music or Library I think it's called?

Now if you can see the album in the music library when her ipod is connected and you can see her ipod then I reckon it's just a matter of going into "Device Mrs Geckos iPod" then click the Music Tab at the top of the pane.
All will be revealed in the "Sync music" section.

If she wants all of the music in the music library in itunes then make sure "entire music library" is selected.

If she wants her own music selection from the library then she needs a playlist (File then New playlist).
Then drag and drop the new album from the music library into her playlist.
Then back on the music tab, check "selected playlist artists etc" and make sure the playlist "Mrs Gecko" is selected and only that playlist.

Then Sync

Hope that helps, if not PM me and we can chat skype or phone if you wish. :thumb2

IIRC you need to "authorise" Mrs Gecko's IPod to read the music yi have downloaded using Mr Gecko's I Store Account.

WIth Mrs Gecko's I Pod connected and synced, you shoudl have seen some messages somewhere about not beign able to copy the downloaded tracks. With Mrs G's IPod still connected, look in the options for I Tunes/Store authorisation for theis IPod.

It is a long time since I did this, but it is there , somewhere , i'm sure..

Try turning on "home sharing on both computers", use the same account login & password for both PC's. ie the account from which you wish to transfer the purchased songs (dont worry the other itunes store account will still function unchanged & independently). Once home sharing is active, you should see a new menu entry in the left itunes sidebar, showing whatever music the doner pc has. Simply open the directory cascade in the sidebar, chose the tune/s you wish to transfer & then hit import at the bottom right of the screen ( if selecting multiple tunes Press and hold the CTRL key whilst selecting all of them with the mouse). Then simply resync the the wifes ipod on her recipient pc.
This works for myself & my son. We both have seperate computers connected over wireless network & we both have seperate itunes accounts. Therfore I can import music he has purchased on his itunes & vice versa.

Hope this helps

What he said, details here. I use this to share my library including iPhone apps between mine and mrs berins iphones and ipods.

This assumes you have separate libraries on separate computers.
