GS 1150 mods, Aux lights, HID and autocom

Just thought I'd share my thoughts and mods with you all..

fitted a HID to the low beam, WOW they are awesome

Autocom fitted with a nice little bracket, keeps things neat

Spots are Hella FF50's 50w halogen, once these are on you need nothing else

all wires run from fuse box, relays and fuses located in here aswell..

feed for aux lights is run from the plug under the tank, then through a switch then to the relay, bike has 2 aux switches, 1 for spots, the other for fogs maybe

big thx to Kompost for the brackets, they look a treat
mind you his bike looks loads better now its been wired up properly even though it is yellow

the switch and lightbar are to be painted black in the very near future, I just couldnt wait, they needed to be fitted and tried out

Rubberscrubber has done the same wiring job on my bike,it is very neat,all hidden in the fuse box and neatly cable tied to the main loom.You can't really tell that there is any extra wiring on the bike.Excellent job
It's a shame i made a better job of his switch bracket than mineI'll have to make a better one.
By the way the yellow bikes are slightly faster,because the black paint is heavier

Ref the Black paint, mine is now coated with FAST WAX, its what surfers use and gives me the equivilent of 10 BHP extra

have you extended the wires from the ballast to the bulb on the HID set up?

yes I did extend all 4 wires, 12v is straight forward, but the ballast to HID is high voltage so I used old fluke test leads, these are rated at 1000V +, I just soldered them together, then wrapped around the joint with some HT ignitor insulation, then triple heat shrink and finally a rubber sleeve, maybe slightly over kill, but you cant be to careful
on the ballast pic you can see a bulky joint left of the ballast under the white multi-plug

I've got the FF50's as well and I'm thrilled with them! I was considering some LightForce 140's and got the FF50's as an interim solution, but once I lit them up, I'm pretty well convinced that I don't need the LF's! I'm going to do the same HID swap with my dipped and low beams soon here. Also need to add Micro DE fog's.

I was considering adding fogs as daytime running lights, but Im preety impressed with just the dip beam as a HID, high beam with the FF50's is plenty for me

Sorry Dusan, no can do, no time for it
and it would cost a small fortune, It took me ages messing about for a day or 2

dont mind offering any advice you might need though

Hi Dave, errr switches are easily obtainable from RS, they are simple push buttons with seperate waterproof boots fitted, 2 part numbers, I'll dig em out later.
As for the bespoke bracket, best send PM to KOMPOST, see what he says
