GS Adventure [2008] vs [2014]?

I need to take one out for a test ride. But as that won't happen tonight I'm just asking those who know the different felt between the 2008 and 2014 GS adventurer's? Mine has power commander, air filter, cat less headers. From a performance point of view only are they still chalk n cheese considering my mods? Is it worth the upgrade/trade in?

My 2012 GS with akro can and hilltop map definitely holds it's own against a 2014 GS
50 to 100 roll on in top gear couldn't separate them and fuel consumption over 1400 miles round Scotland was pretty much identical
The handling of the LC is no doubt better than the standard suspension of the older model but not that much better than a well set up set of wilburs or ohlins
