Hi to you all! I am new to the forum and the GS World!!!! I have just passed my test and currently own a Honda CB500 to get me through the winter and get some miles under by belt, as well as giving me time to find some dosh for a real bike!

I am keen to get my hands on a 1200GSA, and was wondering if anyone in South Wales, near Cardiff, Bridgend, Swansea would be willing to give me a few minutes of your time when available to show me what their all about, what accessories are usefull and just let me check their monster out to help me decide on what to do when the weather turns good in spring!!????

I have seen them in the dealership but would love to see one in action, see what their capable of!? Anyway any help would be appreciated.

CB500... top bike! That was my first bike after passing my test in '94, and it was perfect for the job. 20000miles and never let me down. It is, however, probably faster than my current 1150GSA....

A problem with GS ownership is the need to keep opening your wallet for trinkets and baubles... gets veeeeery expensive if you're not careful :eek

Welcome to the site, BTW :beerjug:

bmw dealers will lend you one for nothing. be careful as the next stage is a long way from free DAMHIK :D

Hi Any and welcome,

You could always pop along to the next get together in Abercrave on the second week of Nov. Date to be confirmed.

Perhaps you could chew the cud with Humvee or Madmikey who now both own 12GSA's.

Hope to see you soon.

Cool i'll do that, i'll do my best to come along to the next meet but i'm pretty sure got tickets for the rugby that weekend, magaged to get tickets for the international players bar before and after match so should be good!!!

Will keep my eyes on the forum for further info, Cheers.

Bloody rugby vs. GS???? That will never do! :spitfire

The GSers evening is usually at the Abercrave Inn in Abercrave and it's usually held on a Thursady evening meeting from about 7(ish) onwards for a meal and tall tales!!!! No excuses now, so see you there!!!! :thumb

Hi Andy, Do make sure you tell the dealer when you passed your test.... my local dealers (Williams) won't lend a damn thing to anyone with less than a year under their belt... even if it's a loan bike for when my R1200GS needed its service.

I told Rainbow when I went for a test ride... I had passed my test that same week :D . I knew that the R12 was gonna be the bike for me, but I did buy big.... I'd only started riding motorbikes about 7 weeks before :D .

You'll find that 'extras' become required items.

One bit of advice, don't get a touratech catalogue... ;)

Yeah i'm holding off on a test ride until early spring so i should be a lot more comfortable on the road before venturing out on a GSA. Drive about 30,000miles a uear in my work car so ok with road sense(fingers crossed!!??), just want to be bike safe before i do!

I would probably take most extras as factory fitted unless there are better products out there of course!
