I sold BMs for a couple of years immediately preceding their series... You knew GSs had a cult following but you were always the weird one "who knew"... After them it was like everyone's on the gig...! Funny that you were chatted up by the folk wanting freebies for their RTW plans and these guys started the whole celebrity biker gig in one... If someone at BMW foresaw the effect and sold it in a boardroom somewhere they should be paying HIM to the yearly bonus...

to be fair to KTM

the plans at the start were extremely sketchy.
even the camera man didn't have a bike licence!!!
Ewan and Charlie were unknown as bike riders.

I'm sure after the reject from KTM the lads put a better plan together before pitching it to BMW.
neither could have predicted the popularity of the series, it was massive.
