The Castrol recommendation from BMW is simply based on commerce, when it came to the end of a contract, Castrol put the largest brown envelope on the table and therefore, got BMW's thumbs up The simple truth is this: if it meets all the relevant standards then it shouldn't matter if it's Halfords finest or Castrol.
