GS or GSA?

Lurker posting for the first time, I'm currently running a 57 plate Suzuki Hayabusa, I've been running Busa's for the last 4 years, they are stunning bikes BUT so easy (and tempting) to go over the "limit" but the odd seventy or eighty mph.......... so it's time for a change

I fancy a 06/07 1200GSA, but what about reliability, "opens can of worms", I have tried an 06 1200 GS and found it surprisingly chuckable and fairly brisk up to three figure speeds but what are they like two up for long distance as I'm planning a round Europe trip next summer and wifey will be onboard

So if anyone fancies a balistic change my 57 plate 3900 mile Busa is worth £7700 a good GS or a GSA with cash, will post pics later

If you fit on it IMHO the adventure is the beast to go for. If you get the standard gs you'll always be looking at the adventures and wondering....Had my GSA a year now and no probs so far. I think it's best to go for an 07 as I reckon there are fewer probs with the later bikes, but there is plenty of info on this site as to reliability.

welcome UKbusa person..

Now i thought i recognised the nic..
Welcome to the "tossers" site ,nice to see you here.. Hope your significant other is well and both loooking forward to the northern run soon..

Cant help you on the 1200 GSA thing, I've got an '06 1150GSA - and love it .. Still got the 'busa but its never seen daylight since i got the GS..

Its a great site here and no doubt about it someone with great knowledge and experience will be along very soon to shed some light upon your questions.. There is also a very active section for those north of the border.

Great to see ya matey, enjoy the site.

I'd say go for the GSA, it's a big rufty tufty looking bike, handles great and will let you take it into almost any situtation, a bike that has real diverse capability, had my 57 plate for nearly a year and have just walked back into the house after being out for a play in the sun....smiling like a looney right now....:D

Yes I agree it's time to move on the Busa, the speed is too much of a liability after 5 years it's a case of been ther done that now for something different.
I made the same transition from ZX12R's.
The GS or GSA will offer a new dimension to your riding, I am willing to bet you will ride the BMW a lot more than you did the Busa. You will not miss the speed one bit.
Just check out the milage on S\H Busas and BMW's.
My comparison between the GS and the GSA
GS is faster, handles better, wheelies better and is capable of lugging more gear due to the lighter weight. You can ride the GS like a sports bike and it will cruise at 120 the only downside is if you ride it like a Suzuki it will probably break.
The GSA has more bling and it's more of an event riding it. Some people can not choose the GSA due to the seat heigth, I can manage but with the lowest seat option.
All in you will not be dissapointed with ether bike.
If I had to have just one of the ( I own both ) It would be the GSA

How could you??? :blast

:tears:tears:tears

(welcome as well but a bit of advice - keep the Busa as well if u can - the Massey Ferguson thing wears off after a while and you'll soon have a need for speed again :thumb)

Joe! I'd totally forgotten you had a GS, nice to hear from you, :D The northern run isn't going to happen for me this year, too much else on:( but I'm finding myself being rather silly on the new Busa and always fancied a GS.

"IT" i'd love to keep both but it's not an option one bike needs to do all for me.

Thanks for the replies chaps i had thought of a "pan" but they are a little souless to ride and i came from twins so I think a GSA might be the one.

Gs on busa site.

25.07.08..
Phil, I think youll find there's as GS in the "bikes for sale" section of the ukbusa site. Cant recall how old it was though ,,just a thought..

I can't make the "Northern Run" either this year.. We had such a great time last year, brilliant.. Really pi**ed about it but i've got too much going on also, not least a two week trip to the States in September. Friends getting married in Vegas, then touring the mid west on hired bikes.. Should be a really ace trip but not exactly a "cheapie",lol.. Ho hum sh*t happens, hopefully we can all make it next year..

Happy days..
