I was out trail riding today and came across a GS by the side of the A5 with what I assume to be a mobile speed camera next to it.(It's just not cricket)
Good job i had a dirty number plate:augie

nice

you saying the GS was the speed unit or it had been pulled by a speed unit. If it was the speed unit maybe the welsh police have been reading this site cos by some of the stories in here you'd think a GS would be the only bike to have judging by the number of GSXR/fireblade scalps they've taken:aidan

I saw it a few weeks ago as you come from Caergwrle on the A541 towards Pontblyddyn. Just before the National Speed Limit sign as you get to the dual carriageway - behind a hedge. Camera was in the top box

The Yellow GS was parked between the stand mounted camera and the road. The operator was wearing normal bike gear.
I know the law was changed some time ago and cameras no longer have to be clearly visible. I'm also sure that it really is for our own good, after all Big Brother does know best.:augie
Anyway I had a great day

Yellow GS

Hew, They have a Manderin (Yellow) 1150 gs camera bike just like mine.. they have had it for a fair while I think as I am sure I saw it a couple of years back out by llanwrst. Was it this one you have seen or a new one.

The 1150 has camera in the side panneirs, on the beak, and in the top box as well as being able to operate remotely. He usually found on the A5 or over by betws y coed and the capel curig road.

Re- Camera Colours, Indeed the law has changed, speed enforcement cameras no longer need to be "clearly visible".. Only "ROAD SAFETY CAMERAS".. have to have warning signs, and the rules of those is due to change again soon.

So yes, the North Wales Police, camera mounted in the ivor williams horse trailer has a small sign on each side.. as its a "safety" camer.. the fact they park is behind hedges and layby's where other traffic obscure the signs is not their fault apparently..

This year has been another bad year in north wales for bikers dead and road fatalities in general, so expect even tougher policing next april when the biking tourism season starts again..
