can anyone inform me what documents are provided by BMW when you purchase a new GS1200 motorcycle - i have been provided with the riders manual and the "contact europe 2008/09" manual - there is mention of a BMW motorrad service card within the riders manual - i don't seem to have been given this - any help would be appreciated

Here's my 2p:

Contact the dealer and ask where the card is.

2p:
Call BMW Emergency Service on: 0800 777 111
Ask them to check if your bike is on the system against your Reg and Frame#.

Lastly, the card doesn't matter when you call 'em out. I've called out 'em using just the reg plate, name as ID.

Mine took about a week to arrive. More worryingly the dealer gave me a sticky label with the number on it 'just in case I needed it before the card arrived'

Same with mine, wondered at the time if he was trying to tell me something

On the reverse of my dealer supplied BMW metal/enamel keyfob emblem is the telephone numbers for BMW Accident Management and Emergency Services.

Never received a card, never bothered me as the bike is on their database.

Not sure how things work on that funny Island of yours, but here on the mainland you receive a temporary BMW Service card (thick paper, purple colored) and about 8 weeks after delivery a regular plasticy one. Since the service applies from the moment you got your bike, just ask your dealer for the temporary card and if not available ask for all contact numbers of The Mobile Service of BMW. That should ring a horn or two.
