Took a couple of GS's out on test recently. Was disappointed that the torque through the rev range flattens off from 4K. Sometimes I didn't really notice it but most times I did. Having test ridden KTM's 1290 Superduke, 1190 + 1290 adventurers there's a noticeable difference in power output. The KTM's although not as refined cosmetically, do have outstanding engines.

My current aircooled 2008 GSA has had a few tuned parts fitted - straight through headers, air filter, Power Commander + Dyno, ackropovic can. My GSA is heavier and not as quick off the throttle as the new LC version but at least my bike's power delivery seems even and consistent, unlike the new GS where after 4K can feel a tad flat.

Anyone else noticed this?

You cant really compare the KTMs to the GSLC, as there is a huge power difference. with the GS giving away about 30+ bhp to the KTMs.

Put a full Akra on and get it to Hilltop. That'll close the gap.;)

I've noticed it as well not massive amounts but I can feel it im not overly bothered I just ride through it I have an akrapovic can but like nutty says you need headers and a remap as it's not a keeper for me and happy with the power I can't be arsed rather spend the money on another trip.

I thought the same. Bike felt like it lost a fair bit of grunt mid-high rev range. I traded in a KTM 990 ADV for it. The engine in that was incredible, but not as powerful as the GS yet it felt (to me) the KTM was a quicker bike...... until you see the speedo.... It bloody shifts when you play hard with it. It must just be the power delivery or the extreme amount of low end torque, but i got completely used to it after 1000 miles or so and enjoy the power at all RPM's.

Just got a 15 plate adventure as a loan bike. Must admit to being slightly disappointed, compared to my standard 14 plate GS (has the steering damper but the lighter crank) it feels a bit flat n lifeless thru the rev range. Mines much more rev happy, I wanted to be bowled over but it's all a bit meh compared to what I've got. Hey ho, saved 5 grand.
