Can anyone advise me if the letters GS at the lower edge of the spedo should light up when the lights are on. not that it matters it's just out of curiosity and we know what happened to the cat

No they don't. I've just been out to the garage to look as I've had the bike since May and realised I've not ridden it in the dark yet!

Did it get run over by a GS?

you dont say what year yours is but i know for sure the later ones have a sensor so that the instument lights only illuminate when the ambient light levels are low

Yes, and flippin annoying it is if you happen to be out round about dusk or on a road with lots of overhanging trees at this time of year when it’s not all that bright anyway – the dash lights are forever going on and off, which I find distracting. There is, however, an easy solution: a bit of black insulating tape over the sensor so the lights stay on all the time. Sorted!

Mines 2005 and does the disco thing!!
