GSA died on me today

If it is the jet sucking pump, what kind of money an I looking at to sort it and can an independent do it as opposed to a main BMW dealer? I'm new to the area (Oxted, Surrey). Mark Holden in Bromley has been recommended to me and I'm going to get booked in with him very soon so maybe he could sort the sucking pump too if that's what the problem is.

You are less than 20 miles from Steptoe's, he can fix it.

The cure for the sucking jet pump is usually to replace the main fuel supply pump.

I had mine replaced under warranty. I ran out of fuel 14 miles after the fuel light came on and showing 22 miles to empty. The only way to know it has occurred is to run into reserve and run out of fuel prematurely, so if you wish to test for it periodically carry a fuel can!

It has been my only fault on a new GSA in 6,000 miles and (thanks to the Forum) I knew immediately what the problem was.

Well done guys :-)

If you use a fuel can. Make sure you pour it into the dry side of the tank or you will still be stuck.
How would I know that. :-(
If memory serves it should go to the left but I might be wrong.
You will need a length of hose on the filler can or use a funnel and hose.

The fuel pump and pickup is on the left side of the tank (sat on the bike).

So if I've got it right - when the bike stops with fuel in the tank, it's the left side of the tank that goes dry? So tip the bike onto its left side to pour any fuel across.

I'm looking at fitting a fuel hose under the tank to connect from one side to the other.

These should joint the hose without leaks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quick-Rel...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3aa4a0f3e3

Something suitable for connecting into the tank bottoms is harder to find. I'll have to pop into the hydraulic hose factors.
