I have a 2010 GSA. I've had the bike for 8 week and can honestly say its about the best bike I have ever had. It does everything I want from a bike and does it well. The only thing I would like to change is the flat spot in the performance between 5,000 and 5,500 rpm.I assume this is designed into the engine mapping for some good reason. My question is can I do anything about it?

I can't help you about how to rectify the issue, but I do believe that it is indeed normal :thumb2

My 2010 standard 1200GS used to have a slight flat spot in that region, but I don't notice it any more, it seems to have faded from my conscious, or maybe after 6000 miles something has 'adapted' to something else and it has gone away????? Will see if it comes back after my 6,000 mile service next week.

Be a little patient

These bikes take a long time to bed in. The consensus is that after 12,000 miles they get better and better. Certainly, my 2009 bike is quicker on pick up for all revs after 18,000 miles.

Get out and ride it:beerjug:

Path.

Its probably a bit like tyres - you ask 10 people and you get 10 answers.

However I bought mine because I'd seen some good reviews and what's the worse that can happen? You waste £25.

On the other hand it may improve things about your bike that you didn't realise could be improved. (Fuel consumption has not altered either as it only affects the open loop accelerating part of the fuelling curve, not the steady state cruise part).

I wouldn't want to ride the bike without it now (apart from when taking it in for a service)

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing by your last comment it does invalidate your warranty then?

I also left mine on during the 12K service...dealer wasn't bothered.

Depends on your relationship with your dealer though.
They might not all be so cool.:augie

I think the module can only benifit the the engine, as the fuelling is less lean.
